Hi, I’m Shevon

Hi, my name is Shevon, and I am a Nurse Practitioner (Master’s in Nursing). I have over 15 years of health care experience. My career first began at BC Children’s Hospital where I worked in the emergency department. During my 5 years there, I saw countless new parents bring their newborns in for concerns, that were often due to issues like poor latch, feeding issues etc. I was empathetic to these parents who often had no support, who were just worried about their child and felt the emergency department was the best place to go.  I wanted to be able to help from a grassroots level, so I received a certificate in breastfeeding from Douglas College. In 2020, I graduated with my Masters in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner from Athabasca University. I was working at a primary and urgent care clinic in BC until last year when my husband got a job in Calgary. I was so excited to find Vivara, this was the exact fit I was looking for; to be able to support families in the 4th trimester navigate their new roles as parents and potentially help prevent newborn concerns. I will be working in the scope of an RN with Vivara (NPs are allowed to diagnose, treat and manage acute and chronic illnesses and this will not be part of my role with Vivara).

I am a mother of two, and just finished a 18 month maternity leave in January 2026. I know the challenges of motherhood. My first was born during covid, and the lack of community support, I believe, led to postpartum depression. With my second, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer while on maternity leave. I am thankful to be cancer free and returning back to work. I am so excited to bring my clinical background and personal experiences to share with families and I look forward to working with you.
