Our Story

I had two of the most dreamy births. Filled with euphoric excitement, passion, and peace. At home, I birthed by babies into my arms, where I felt completely in control, deeply connected to my body, and empowered by the experience.

However, when postpartum entered the chat, it was a completely different story.

I hired the help, but that phased out around six weeks, and I was left feeling, like the Katy Perry song, "a paper bag drifting through the wind."

I had two gorgeous children, but I didn't have an anchor.

The days felt long. I felt scared in my own body, and my two children needed me so deeply.

When I was deep in the trenches of postpartum, I knew two things:

1. This wasn't the way it was meant to be

2. I didn't want any mother to feel alone.

Somewhere between those two thoughts, Vivara started to take shape.

I started dreaming of something different.

Vivara was my third baby

I began educating myself on the physiological postpartum period, exploring holistic healing modalities, and reconnecting with the wisdom our grandmothers, aunties, and generations of women before us had passed down.

I envisioned a world where mothers didn't have to navigate postpartum alone. Where nursing care extended beyond hospital walls and into the homes of families. Where support didn't simply disappear after the traditional six-week mark.

A place where clinical expertise wasn't separate from intuition, but worked alongside it.

And so, after eight months of dreaming, I started creating Vivara, with a 8 month old nursing and a two-year-old on my lap.

My third baby was born.

Vivara isn't a traditional nursing company.

The wisdom behind this approach isn't new by any means. Midwives, birth keepers, Indigenous women, and generations of mothers have been honouring and supporting the postpartum period for decades.

What I envisioned was bringing that respect for traditional postpartum wisdom together with the clinical knowledge, education, and accountability of Registered Nursing.

We honour the profound transition from maiden to motherhood. We support the physiological healing that follows birth. And we recognize that every woman's postpartum journey deserves to be met with individualized, evidence-based care that leaves room for her own intuitive knowing.

I birthed Vivara from a deeply personal experience, but I knew that caring for mothers and babies required more than a beautiful vision. It required clinical wisdom, strong foundations, and someone who believed, as deeply as I did, that evidence-based medicine and intuitive knowing belong together.
