How Long are visits?

Each visit is intentionally unhurried, allowing space for assessment, education, hands-on support, and questions.

Most visits range between 2 to 4 hours of in-home care, depending on the type of visit and your needs. Professional nursing documentation is completed separately to ensure care time in your home remains focused and uninterrupted.

Typical visit structure includes:

  • Initial visit: Approximately 4 hours of in-home care

  • Follow-up visits: Approximately 2–3 hours of in-home care

Visit length is adjusted based on clinical needs, tier of support, and where you are in your postpartum journey.

As part of professional nursing standards, additional time is allocated outside of visits for charting and care coordination.

Lactation Consultation

〰️

Lactation Consultation 〰️

  • PRENATAL CONSULTATION

We will discuss lactation and supply, basics of breastfeeding and needs of the mom-baby dyad.  We will review your health history, any previous feeding experience and discuss your feeding goals, questions and concerns.

Not planning on breastfeeding or planning on combo feeding? No worries, we can help with that too! We can discuss alternative feeding options and milk supply management.

  • POSTPARTUM CONSULTATION

Are you wondering if your baby is getting enough milk? Questioning if breastfeeding should feel uncomfortable, or if supplementing is the right choice?

We’re here to support you through all of it.

During your one-on-one visit, we will take the time to understand your health history, explore your feeding goals, and talk through any concerns you may be holding. We will gently observe a feeding, assess your baby’s growth and intake, and offer hands-on guidance along the way.

Together, we will create a care plan that feels supportive, personalized, and aligned with both you and your baby. ✨

  • PUMP & BOTTLE SUPPORT

Is my pump working right? How much milk should I be making? Which bottle should I use?

This service is ideal if you are exclusively pumping, just getting started, working to increase supply, navigating time away from your baby, returning to work, or simply needing more support with your pump.

Did you know there is a way of bottle-feeding that allows your baby to guide the pace? This approach can help reduce overfeeding, minimize discomfort and fussiness, and support a more connected feeding experience between you and your baby.

  • ADDITIONAL FOLLOW-UPS

Feeding challenges can take time to improve and may evolve over several days or weeks. As things shift, we may gently adjust your care plan to best support you and your baby.

Your needs and feeding goals can also change along the way, and ongoing support can make a meaningful difference. A follow-up visit allows us to reassess, provide reassurance, and continue guiding you as your feeding journey unfolds.

What Support Can Look Like After Birth

After your baby arrives, Vivara visits are designed to support both you and your baby through:

  • Postpartum recovery assessments such as bleeding, incision or perineal healing, breast health, and overall physical recovery

  • Lactation and infant feeding support, including troubleshooting and education

  • Emotional wellbeing check-ins and mental health screening

  • Education around normal versus concerning postpartum and newborn changes

  • Holding your baby so you can rest, shower, eat, or take a moment for yourself

  • Gentle holistic supports woven into care when appropriate

  • Professional nursing documentation to support continuity of care and insurance reimbursement

Each visit is guided by your needs that day. There are no rushed timelines and no one-size-fits-all approach.

Kind Words From Our Clients

  • "My nurse was a light and an anchor in my postpartum. She validated everything that felt heavy, and also helped me to recognize the parts that were going great, because it’s hard to know in that haze. I experienced my second postpartum with a different confidence and ease and a big part of that was because of my nurse's input. She gave me the confidence to do EC with my baby, and she felt way more accessible for medical guidance than my midwives."

    - Leah

  • "My nurse is so caring and kind! She understands what postpartum is all about & provides so much support during that special but difficult postpartum healing period. Her non judgemental, loving, compassionate care is what all moms deserve & I am so thankful for her! She helped me feel empowered in motherhood and helped me get through some rough days. She is truly so amazing & I highly recommend Vivara's services!"

    - Dani

  • "Our 9 month old has had a couple of cranio and myofacial release sessions with my nurse and we have seen marked improvement in his sleep, tolerance of being on his tummy and with his tummy issues. My nurse makes every session fun, listens to our son’s cues and explains what she is doing. She is willing to try different methods to make it as comfortable as possible while still meeting the goals of the session."

    - Amanda
